Our two founders, John Levenberg and Enrique Pallares, were united by an almost quixotic quest for quality. Along with their families, they gathered many evenings under the quiet skies of the Eastern Shore of Maryland to drink wine and dream up a winery that would breach the chasm between the rural and the urban, an unprecedented place that would truly reflect the potential of the soil and the people of our region.

The Wine Collective is an urban winery in Baltimore City whose mission is to make the highest quality, low intervention wine and vermouth. We collaborate with vineyards within 100 miles of the winery throughout the entire growing season, year after year, to grow grapes and turn them into wines and vermouths that reflect the different terroirs and the amazing bounty of the Mid-Atlantic. We strive to make wines that reflect their place and the obsession of all those who participate in the amazing odyssey of making them, all with the ultimate goal of feasting together.
