Alta Pavina—Where Burgundy Meets Ribera
Perched at over 900 meters above sea level in the heart of Spain’s Castilla y León region, Bodegas Alta Pavina is a pioneering family-owned estate that blends Old World elegance with high-altitude Spanish terroir. Located just a few kilometers west of Ribera del Duero, near Valladolid, Alta Pavina sits in a privileged zone—where the extreme continental climate and limestone-rich soils craft wines of remarkable freshness, finesse, and complexity.
Founded by the Ortega brothers with a vision to produce world-class Pinot Noir in Spain—a bold endeavor at the time—Alta Pavina has become a reference point for high-altitude viticulture and Burgundian winemaking in the Iberian Peninsula. The estate cultivates Pinot Noir, Tempranillo, and select other varietals across vineyards that enjoy dramatic temperature swings between day and night, preserving acidity and enhancing aromatic development.
The resulting wines are expressive and balanced, with Alta Pavina’s Pinot Noir gaining particular acclaim for its purity, structure, and unique Spanish soul. From their flagship single-varietal expressions to innovative blends like Pinot Noir–Tempranillo, the wines are elegant, terroir-driven, and built to delight both purists and modern wine lovers alike.
Alta Pavina is not just a winery—it’s a bold intersection of place, altitude, and vision. A Burgundy spirit rooted firmly in Spanish soil.
