About Lis Neris

Sustainably Farmed / Natural, Low Intervention

Lis Neris is the historical “mother” producer of Friuli. The estate sits on the border among Austria, Slovenia, and Italy.

The first Italian town to greet the river Isonzo as it meanders its way out of Slovenia is Gorizia, historically Europe’s most contended border settlement. Flowing south, the river crosses enchanting countryside dotted with tiny villages nestling around their bell towers and vineyards where the spirit of the place beats time with the rhythms of daily life .

It is here that, since 1879, four generations of the family have worked passionately to help create and develop one of Friuli’s most representative wine estates. 1981 was the turning point in the history of the winery. That was the year Lis Neris introduced a new approach to production aimed at up-grading quality.

White wines proved to be the best expression of the “terroir” and they became the focus of the Lis Neris mission. Their aim today is to produce wines of increasingly high quality and their role is to create the conditions to let this happen.
