The Strauss wine estate started in 1810 under the name “Schopper.” In 1948 Karl and Johanna Strauss took over the business which is now run by their sons Karl Jr. and Gustav. While Karl manages the business, Gustav is in charge of the vineyards and winery. The Strauss winery is located in Steinbach, near Gamlitz. The enormous Gamlitzberg is the largest single wine-growing area in Southern Styria.
